Virginia M. (Miley) Hall, 95, of Cranston, died peacefully on Sunday, January 18, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Walter R. Hall, Jr. Born in Providence, RI, she was the daughter of the late William E. and Mary (Foley) Miley.
She will be sadly missed by her five sons, Michael E. Hall (Lucy), Edward J. Hall, Andrew J. Hall (Angela), Daniel F. Hall (Maria), and Donald V. Hall (Cynthia). She also leaves her brother Edmund P. Miley (Donna) of Exeter and eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son Timothy R. Hall, and her daughter, Marylou Hall. All those who knew her, loved her.
She was a woman who welcomed everyone into her home, exuding friendliness and warmth, and loved sharing stories about the shenanigans of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved to entertain, her home featuring the traditional decorations of every holiday season. No holiday passed without at least two dozen joining her to celebrate the theme of the day – Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, and multiple birthdays. But of all special days, her favorite was St. Patrick’s Day, as her collection of everything Irish would attest. She was the type of woman who, at age 85, decided that it was high time that she joined the gym. “I made it this far” she said, “so I might as well make the most of it.”, serving as a great testament to what seniors can accomplish when they choose to. She was a New England Patriots fan, but never watched any of their many Superbowl appearances, because she said they made her too nervous. She enjoyed her daily crossword puzzles, gardening, bird watching, posting on social media, and playing cards with her beloved friends. But spending time with family and friends is where she was happiest. She always had a story to share, a quick wit, and a never-ending smile. She was everyone’s “Grandma”, and her family and friends will miss her always.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick, followed by her funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
