Vincenzo D'Ambrosca Obituary

91, of Cranston, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, December 21, 2010. Born in West Warwick, he was a son of the late Giovanni D'Ambrosca and Lucia (Raimondo) D'Ambrosca. He was the husband of the late Anna T. (Papa) D'Ambrosca. The couple were married for 39 years.

Mr. D'Ambrosca, who opened his first jewelry store in 1942, was President of Garden City Jewelers, Inc. After retirement, he was the owner and operator Fraternal Jewelers. He was a Knight of Columbus, avid Golfer, and Founding Member of the Alpine Country Club.

He leaves his two children: Robert J. D'Ambrosca of Richmond, and Bonnie S. DeBalsi and her husband Paul G. of Cranston. He was the loving grandfather of Matthew, Justin, and Paul DeBalsi; Cherished brother of Mary Conti of Cranston and the late Salvatore D'Ambrosca, Frank D'Ambrosca, and Angelina Trombetti.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 8:45 am from THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Greenwood, Warwick (Exit 12A off I-95) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Immaculate Conception Church, 237 Garden Hills Drive, Cranston. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, West Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory to Beacon Hospice Lighthouse Foundation, 529 Main St., Suite 101, Boston, MA 02129 will be appreciated.
