Thomas Gerard D’Ovidio, 69, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026. He was the loving husband of Holly (Servant) D’Ovidio and the devoted father of Katherine I. D’Ovidio, Louisa A. D’Ovidio, Christian T. D’Ovidio, and Maelle M. D’Ovidio.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Eugene and Lillian (Allegretti) D’Ovidio, brother to the late Gregory D’Ovidio and the beloved sibling to Gene D’Ovidio, Dennis D’Ovidio, David D’Ovidio, Ellen D’Ovidio, Joseph D’Ovidio, Patrice Beckwith-D’Ovidio, and Christopher D’Ovidio. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and cousins.
Thomas was a graduate of Toll Gate High School and an alumnus of the University of Rhode Island and Roger Williams University. He devoted his life’s work to the preservation of historic buildings and the strengthening of neighborhoods in Providence. Through his work as a Project Manager for The Providence Revolving Fund and his service as Treasurer of Groundwork Rhode Island, he combined a deep respect for place with a lasting commitment to community.
He loved his family deeply and found joy in hiking, camping, biking, and running. He was an active gardener and an excellent chef and baker. Thomas was deeply committed to helping others and gave generously of his time in support of people facing personal challenges. He volunteered with many community and service organizations, including Recycle-A-Bike, and was known for his compassion, encouragement, and quiet generosity.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Sts. Rose and Clement Church, 111 Long Street, Warwick, RI 02886.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick.
