Stephen M. Jones

Stephen M. Jones, 76, of North Kingstown, died at home on November 3, 2024.  Born in South Kingstown, he was the son of the late Edward C. Jones and Ruth (Fanning) Jones.

Stephen was employed at the University of Rhode Island in the Agronomy Department for many years until his retirement. He was a proud Farmer who enjoyed all things agriculture.   An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting for arrowheads and wild edibles.  He enjoyed working at the Washington County Fair, riding his motorcycle, and celebrating the Fourth of July with his family.   

He leaves his loving children: Lisa M. O’Rourke of Clearwater, FL, Michael D. Jones & his wife Kimberly of South Kingstown, and Melanie Jones Healy of North Kingstown.   Cherished grandfather of Brian Hogan, Derek Hogan, Marissa Seymour, Michael O’Rourke, Emily Jones, Sarah Jones, Nicholas Jones, and great-grandfather of Frederick E. Seymour, V.  He also leaves his cousin, Patricia Fanning Ball of Knotts Island, NC, whom he considered a sister.  

Visitation will be held Friday, November 15, 2024 from 11:00 to 1:00 P.M. in THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown.  His graveside service will follow in Elm Grove Cemetery.
