Stafford “Slim” Williams, Sr., 70, of Saunderstown, died peacefully on November 14, 2025 at Kent Hospital. He was the loving husband of Carol A. (Fry) Williams. Born in New Orleans, LA, he was a son of the late Ernest Williams, Sr. and Yvonne (Markey) Williams.
Mr. Williams was employed as a groundskeeper at the University of Rhode Island for 35 years until his retirement. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1973 to 1975.
Slim enjoyed golfing, playing cards, and was an avid New England Patriots fan.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his loving children: Theresa R. Williams of Saunderstown, Gladys Y. Williams of Saunderstown, and Stafford Williams, Jr. of Wakefield. Cherished grandfather of Tyesha Williams, Ke’Asia Williams, Stafford Williams, III, Juan Williams, and Ray’Quan Williams. He was the brother of Rose Nell Butler, Ernest Williams, Jr., Elton Williams, Gregory Alexander, Karen Williams, Ursula Colas-Davis, Portia Lewis, Nadine Williams, Opal Sandolph, and the late Ora Lee Duhe, Daphne Williams, and Evelyna Champagne.
Visitation will be held Friday November 21, 2025 from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M. with a service to follow in THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown. Burial will be private.
