Robert J. Vaughn passed away on April 9, 2026, at age 93, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Barbara J. (Chase) Vaughn. He was the son of late Reginald and Helen (Yorston) Vaughn.
Besides his wife Barbara, he leaves behind his loving son, Dr. David J. Vaughn, his grandchildren Robert J., Jennifer, Erin, and Luke Vaughn. He was father-in-law to Diane Vaughn and Dr. Ann-Marie Leahey.
Robert was predeceased by his son Robert F. Vaughn, his sister Dorothy Lewis and his brother Russell Vaughn.
He was a US Army Veteran, serving in the 14th Armored Calvary during the Korean War. After his Honorable Discharge, he worked for fifty years in the telecommunications industry for New England Telephone, AT & T, and Johnson and Wales University. At New England Telephone, he worked with White House Communications for visits by Presidents Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, and Carter. He enjoyed skiing, golf, gardening, and the Red Sox.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on April 15, 2026, at Saint Gregory the Great Church in Warwick at 11 am followed by burial in Saint Patrick’s Cemetery in East Greenwich.

Funeral arrangements have been made by the URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick.
