Richard G. Seymour, 82, of Exeter, died at home on February 6, 2025. He was the loving husband of Carolyn M. (Colt) Seymour. Born in St. Lucia, he was a son of the late Wilfred E. Seymour and Clarice I. (Gilpin) Seymour.
With a long career as a truck driver which began in the mid 1960's, Rich spent much of his career as a Teamsters Local 251 cement truck driver and batchman at Pawtucket Ready Mixed Concrete Corporation (PRM) where he was always known in the workforce as "Rick". In retirement he worked with his Brother Ted at Habitat for Humanity.
An avid golfer, he was a member of the Fenner Hill Golf Mixed Doubles League. He was a 1961 graduate of North Kingstown High School and has recently enjoyed getting together with some of his local classmates for dinner each month.
Rich was passionate about music and was a self-taught guitar player and enjoyed getting together with his peers to make music. Known for his quick and dry sense of humor second only to his kind and always cheerful nature, Rich often joked that they weren't ready to charge a fee for the group’s performances but they could make a little money if they played long enough for someone to pay them to stop! He also had a small guitar collection and practiced often in the evenings with Carolyn sometimes helping with vocals.
Rich loved being home on the farm and the life he and Carolyn built for themselves there. Anyone who knew Rich knows how much he adores his wife Carolyn.
He was the devoted father to seven children, six grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. He was the brother of David E. Seymour of North Kingstown, brother-in-law to David’s wife Marilyn, and brother of the late Frederick E. “Ted” Seymour, II. Rich also leaves many loving nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held at a time to be announced. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306 will be appreciated.
Arrangements have been entrusted to THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD.
