Richard Leroy Fortney

Richard Leroy Fortney, 82, of Warwick, passed away on Friday December 5, 2025. He was the loving husband of Mary Victoria (DeSocio) Fortney for over 59 years. Born in Dayton, OH he was the son the late Donald and Mary Leas.

Richard served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corp and was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal. He went onto become a machinist and retired from Stanley Bostitch, Co. in 1999 after 35 years of dedicated service.

Mr. Fortney was an avid bowler and a member of the Kingstown Bowling League. He also enjoyed many hours viewing football games with his son.

Besides his loving and devoted wife he will be sadly missed by his son, Mark R. Fortney of Warwick, RI. He was predeceased by his two sisters, Barbara J. Harlamert and Donna Creason.

His funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 7:00PM at THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick.

Visitation will take place prior to the service from 4:00PM-7:00PM
