Richard Budlong, 84, of Coventry, formerly of West Warwick, died Thursday, May 1, 2025, at South County Hospital. He was the beloved spouse of Ronald Bonenfant. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Walter W. Budlong, Sr. and Mildred H. (Lane) Budlong. Richard was employed as a Customer Service Representative for Arkwright Corp. and retired in 2000 after 33 years of service.
Richard was a communicant of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Warwick. He was alumnus of Central High School, Johnson and Wales University and Bryant University. Active in the Episcopal Church most of his life.
He was an associate member of the Sisters of the Holy Nativity since 1964, a member of The Confraternity of The Blessed Sacrament.
He served as a Licensed Lay Reader and Chalice Bearer for the Diocese of Rhode Island, since 1989 and an Episcopal Sacristan for over 50 years. From 1982 to 1990 he was Clerk of the Vestry at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church.
Besides his beloved spouse, Richard leaves his caring sisters Jean E. Ewing and Martha Pusey and was pre-deceased by his siblings, Walter W. Budlong, Jr., Mildred L. Croteau, and Virginia E. Budlong. He was a loving uncle and grand uncle.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 8:45AM from THE URQUHART - MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick, followed by a Requiem Eucharist at 10:00AM in St. Barnabas Church, 3257 Post Road, Warwick. Burial will take place at Pawtuxet Memorial Park, Warwick.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours in THE URQUHART - MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, from 2:00PM - 4:00PM and 7:00PM - 9:00PM.
