Patricia Lynch Obituary

Patricia M. (Washburn) Lynch, 87, (Formerly of Warwick) passed away peacefully after a brief illness surrounded by her children and her sister on Friday, May 8, 2026, in Naples, Florida. Pat was the wife of the late John D. Lynch, Esq.

She was the daughter of the late Raymond J. & Marie H. (Saillant) Washburn. She was born in Providence on March 13, 1939, and grew up in Cranston and then Warwick.

Pat’s life was defined by an open door and a front-row seat. Alongside her late husband John, she made their home on Governors Drive a place of constant celebration. They held legendary holidays, weddings, and pool parties where everyone was welcome. She had a unique gift for making a crowded room feel like a close-knit family.

A fixture in the Warwick sports community, Pat was a trailblazer at the St. Gregory’s softball and baseball fields. In the 1980s, she founded the St. Gregory’s concession stand, ensuring every player and family was fueled. Her commitment went beyond the sidelines; she coached her daughters’ softball and basketball teams and hosted many of her children’s teammates and families for pre-game meals or post-game celebrations for youth sports and Toll Gate High School athletics.

Her dedication to her family’s athletic pursuits never wavered. She rarely missed a game or meet for her children, often arriving with a then state-of-the-art camcorder to preserve the moments. Her devotion to her family’s athletic pursuits continued through the next generation. She traveled near and far to cheer on her grandchildren at their youth sports, high school and college games, remaining their most loyal fan.

As her children grew, Pat found new passions and communities. She was an active member of the Potowomut Golf Club and later brought that same energy to the Vanderbilt Country Club in Naples, Florida. She threw herself into every activity from her golf game to the strategy of Mahjong, to the competitive fun of Trivia Night where her children often joined her.   In Naples, she found a special sisterhood with her "Chicks." These wonderful friends were her constant companions for shared meals and laughter, providing a vibrant social life and supportive community that she cherished deeply.

Pat’s legacy includes her ten children: Susan Lynch McKnight and her husband Jamie of Narragansett; the Honorable Karen Lynch Bernard, Associate Justice of the RI Family Court; Bethany A. Furtado and her husband Gil; Kristen E. Lynch; Deborah L. D'Orsi and her husband Scott; Tricia A. McCool and her husband Steve; John D. Lynch, Jr., Esquire; Jennifer L. Buckley, Esquire and her husband Jerry; the Honorable Erin Lynch Prata, Associate Justice of the RI Supreme Court, and her husband Joe; and Joseph R. Lynch.

She also leaves her 28 beloved grandchildren: Jimmy McKnight (Julianne) and Paige McKnight LeValley (Zachary); Robert, Owen (Amy) and Georgia Bernard; Matthew (Amanda), Nicolas (Beth) and Zachary Furtado (Jessica); Raymond Pendergast (Brianna); Hope (Brett), Will, Tess D’Orsi Dunlap (Brian), Drew and Luke D'Orsi; Jack (Kori), Corinne, Devlin, Jimmy and Catherine McCool; Julia Lynch; Carly, Ryan, Ben and Danny Buckley; and Caleb, Charlie, Nolan and Lauren Lynch. She also leaves 16 great-grandchildren whom she adored. She is survived by her sister, Judy Mullarkey and her husband Ed of Rocky Hill, CT. She was predeceased by her sister, Nancy J. Bessette. She also leaves many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.

Pat’s children extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Physicians Regional Hospital’s ICU Team and Avow Hospice Care in Naples, Florida for the kindness and care they provided to Pat and the support given to her children.
