Nancy Bacon Obituary

Nancy Ann (Lomax) Bacon, 86, of Warwick, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, August 29, 2025. She was the loving wife of the late John “Jack” Bacon for fifty years. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late John and Jane (Gorman) Lomax.

Nancy was a graduate of Central High School in Providence and the Community College of Rhode Island. She served as a Social Worker for the State of Rhode Island for many years until her retirement in 2009. Nancy was a longtime communicant of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Edgewood. A kind and generous person, she enjoyed volunteering for various charities, including, Special Olympics, Fundraising for the Epilepsy Foundation, Elizabeth Buffam Chace Center, Insight for the Blind, and the Muscular Dystrophy Telethon for decades.

She is survived by her beloved children, John E. Bacon (Eileen) of Quincy, MA, Steven Bacon (Kelly) of Cranston, and Colleen E. Bacon-Moran (Late Daniel) of Warwick, her grandchildren, Tyler and Ryan Moran, Jaclyn Calderon (Nicholas), Harrison, Jared, Catherine and Julia Bacon, Saoirse, Brendan, and Jackson Bacon, two great-granddaughters, Catherine Joan, and Mary Eileen Calderon,  and her “sister of the heart” Barbara Starkweather of Lakeside, Ca.

She was Nana of the late Patrick Moran.

In 2007 she received the Marguerite A. Beaubin Humanitarian Award from the RI Department of Human Services. It was her mission to help others in need however she could as such she was a gift to this world.

She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially family vacations with her grandchildren on Cape Cod. She was a very loving, proud and supportive Nana.

To have Nancy as a friend, was to have a friend for life. She has been described by her friends as an extraordinary, thoughtful, generous, kind and loving person. She would always be there to listen, support, and do whatever she could.
