Mildred C. “Millie” Fountain, 98, of Slocum, died peacefully surrounded by her family on October 9, 2024 at Alpine Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Howard E. Fountain, Jr. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Gilbert Carter and Margaret (Chadwick) Carter.
Millie was employed as a secretary at Hamilton Elementary School in North Kingstown for many years until her retirement. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in North Kingstown where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and volunteered with the Ready Helpers. She volunteered at Joseph’s Coat in Wickford and was a volunteer at the North Kingstown Senior Center where she enjoyed singing with the “Swingers” choral group.
She leaves her loving children: Holly R. Howard and her husband John of West Greenwich, Howard “Gibby” Fountain and his wife Virginia of Richmond, Heather F. Records and her husband Paul of South Kingstown, Heidi F. Lessard and her husband Wray of Wakefield, and Helenna F. Livernois and her husband Raymond of Charlestown. Cherished grandmother of 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchilidren. She was the sister of the late Gladys Desrosiers, Lillian Connors, and Alfred G. Carter.
Her Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 10:00 AM in the First Baptist Church in North Kingstown, 1135 Tower Hill Road, North Kingstown. Burial will follow in Elm Grove Cemetery.
Calling Hours will be held Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM in THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown.
