Marilyn Coates Obituary

Marilyn Helen (Roesch) Coates, 91, of Warwick, formerly of Madisonville, KY, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025. She was the loving wife of the late William George Coates. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Adele (Troeger) Roesch.

Marilyn was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who created a loving and welcoming home for her family and friends. She worked as a Secretary for the Madisonville, Kentucky School System for many years until her retirement. Marilyn was a fifty-year member of both the First Presbyterian Church of Madisonville, KY and the Homemakers Association. She also enjoyed her membership with several Bridge Clubs. Marilyn was a gracious hostess, known for always having something delicious prepared to share with friends and her children’s friends, often at a moment’s notice.

She is survived by her beloved children, Kim A. Coates (Mary Rose) of Warwick, the late Daniel W. Coates (Lea Ann) of Webster Groves, Missouri and Karen E. Wagner (Daniel) of Bristol, her brother, Walter Roesch of St. Louis, Missouri, and her cherished grandchildren, Matthew Edward Wagner, Ryan William Wagner, and Regan Elizabeth Wagner.

A Celebration of Marilyn’s Life will be held on Sunday, November 23, 2025 from 2:00PM-3:00PM concluding with a Service at 3:00PM at THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick.
