Marie D. Radoccia, RN, CSNT
After a lifetime of giving of herself, Marie DiMase Radoccia passed away on March 4, 2025, from a lethal combination of Parkinson’s, Dementia and metastatic breast cancer. She graduated from Classical HS in 1954, where she and her husband Van were classmates, and URI School of Nursing in 1958, earning a BS & RN. She was a member of Alpha XI Delta Sorority and then went to work as a School Nurse-Teacher in North Kingstown and then at Richmond School, retiring in 1999. Before that, she worked in the operating room at NE Center Hospital, where she earned a PHT (Putting Hubby Through) Degree, as well as working in the former St Joseph’s Hospital OR room. She was an avid bridge player, both in RI and Florida, her adopted home.
She was elected RI School Nurse Teacher of the Year in 1999 and endowed a URI School of Nursing Scholarship designed primarily for Richmond School students who enrolled in the Nursing Program.
Marie was a former member of the North Kingstown Republican Town Committee; was elected on a statewide basis as an alternate Bush delegate to the Republican National Convention in New Orleans in 1988; former Chair Chariho Tri-Town Task Force (anti-drug group);founding member, Laymen in No. Kingstown Schools (LINKS) ; former President, St Francis de Sales Church Women’s Club; member So County Hospital (Boosters);Ri Certified School Nurse Teachers Association, RI School Health Assoc., American School Nurses Assoc., former Director, Camperships and Secretary- No Kingstown Salvation Army Service Unit, former President Forest Park School PTA, founding member HELP Nursery Board of Directors, Citrus County Sheriff’s Dept, member of Citrus County Art League.
She is survived by her husband, Evandro R. “Van” Radoccia, Jr, ESQ and her daughter Cynthia R. Bellafiore, ESQ (Peter, MD), her son David A Radoccia (fiancé, Laura), four grandchildren, Kristen Donahue (Kyle),Anthony Bellafiore, Michelle Radoccia and Paul Bellafiore, DO (Jenna, DO) as well as 3 great-grandchildren: Marissa and Isabella Donahue and Joseph Bellafiore; a brother Richard Di Mase (Mary Lu Radoccia) and was predeceased by a brother, Joseph DiMase, MD (Susan,MD).
In lieu of flowers, her family would appreciate donations to the Marie Radoccia Nursing Scholarship at URI,79 Upper College Rd., Kingston, RI 02881. Her family would also like to thank the staff at St Elizabeths Green House Homes; their never-ending attentiveness and cheerfulness made her last year more bearable.
Visiting hours will be held at THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 West Main St, No.Kingstown, RI on Tuesday March 11th from 4-7 pm and a Mass at 10 am on Wednesday March 12th at St Bernard Church 275 Tower Hill Rd, North Kingstown, RI. Burial will follow in Quidnessett Cemetery.
