Louise Marie (DeStefano) Bennett, 83, of Warwick, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully in her home on July 24, 2025 surrounded by her family where she had lived with her youngest daughter Stacey and son-in-law Ray since 2019.
She was born on August 27, 1941, to Angelo and Helen (Branch) DeStefano. A lifelong Rhode Islander, Louise attended Vets High School and later worked as a caregiver at Brentwood Nursing Home until her retirement in 2001.
She was a devoted a wife of her high school sweetheart, the late Frank Bennett. They were married in 1960. Together they raised three children.
Louise was known for her honesty—whether you asked for it or not. She had a heart of gold and always strived to do right by others. With a sharp wit and a smart-ass sense of humor, she could light up any room with laughter. Her legacy of strength, love, and laughter lives on in all who knew her. Much love.
Louise is survived by her two brothers, Lawrence and Tom DeStefano, and was predeceased by her siblings Anthony and Donald DeStefano, Sally Phillips, and Christine Branch.
She is also survived by her loving children: Lori Shanahan and her husband Tom; Frank Bennett and his wife Jean; and Stacey Aubin and her husband Ray.
She was an amazing Nana to late Chris Higgins, Frank and Cait Bennett, Kayla Bennett, Lynsie Ouimette, Kyle and Sam Aubin, and Aricia and Mae Swope. She also leaves behind the greatest joys of her life—her great-grandchildren: Gian and Christopher Higgins, Frankie and Finn Bennett, and one more on the way—her great-granddaughter “Little Aubin,” due in October.
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 11:00AM at Pawtuxet Memorial Park, 100 Harrison Avenue, Warwick, followed by a Celebration of Life at her son Frank’s home.
Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: VNA of Care New England Foundation, Philanthropy Bldg 2 - 171 Service Avenue - Suite 310, Warwick RI 02886
