Lewis Charles Hassell, Jr., 80, of Warwick, passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. He was the loving husband of the late Carol Ann (Bass) Hassell. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Lewis C. Hassell, Sr. and Carmella (Castriotta) Hassell.
Lewis worked as a Chemist for Electric Boat before his retirement eighteen years ago. He was an active member of St Joseph Church in West Warwick, and former member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Warwick. Lewis volunteered his time for the St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen and coached CYO Basketball.
He is survived by his beloved children, Lewis C. Hassell, III (Tonia) of South Kingstown, Michael P. Hassell (Kathy) of Foster, and Gregory M. Hassell of Warwick, his sister Judith Hassell of Foster, and brothers Paul Hassell (Diane) of Cranston and Dennis Hassell (Mary) of Scituate, his grandchildren Gregory, Matthew, Kendra, Jessica, Anthony, Ryan, Cameron, and his great-grandchild Oakley Jean.
He was the brother of the late Etta Avella.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 10:00AM at St. Joseph Church, 854 Providence Street, West Warwick. Interment will take place at Pawtuxet Memorial Park Cemetery, Warwick.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, from 4:00PM-7:00PM at THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick.
