Laura Colomb Obituary

Laura Colomb, 92, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Bellows Falls, Vermont, the daughter of the late Carl and Nettie (Johnson) Woodard. Laura was a twin to her beautiful sister, the late Lila Carrara of Shrewsbury, VT, who also passed away this year. They shared a most particularly strong intense bond all their lives, creating a lifetime of cherished and loving memories, forever held dearly in our hearts.

Laura was the most amazing loving mom to her six children. She and her late husband Ambrose “Andy”, who was in the Navy, traveled and lived in Panama, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, and California, finally settling in Rhode Island to be closer to family.

She was a caring, kind, and generous person with such a BIG heart, always making everyone feel so welcome. She never met anyone that she wouldn’t immediately start a conversation with. She had a way of making everyone feel special. Her smile radiated kindness along with her beautiful soul.

She enjoyed baking, sharing the goodies with family, friends, and neighbors. She was a bundle of energy, always busy and independent, often driving alone to New York and Vermont to spend time with family. Her support, dedication, and love she gave to her children, her family, and her friends, was a gift to all of us. We will continue in her memory to show kindness, caring, thoughtfulness, and decency towards those we know and meet in life as we were taught by this most amazing woman, our Mom, Gram, Nana, Aunt and Friend.

She is survived by her daughters, Susanne Moreau (Raymond) of Warwick, Michelle Miscedra (Eric) of Hyde Park, NY, her sons, Joseph Colomb, Sr. of Exeter, and Ambrose Colomb III (Brenda) of East Greenwich.

She is predeceased by her husband, Ambrose Colomb, Jr., her daughter Kathryn Colomb, her son Edward Colomb, her twin sister, Lila Carrara, her sister, Edith Butler, her five brothers, Delmar, Herman, Herbert, Carl, and Wallace Woodard, and her grandson, Joseph Colomb, Jr.

She is also survived by eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, her caring companion, Jack Smith, and her very dear friends of more than sixty years, Rita and Gilbert Costa.

We would also like to recognize and say thank you to Robin Masi, PA and her staff for everything they’ve done to help her over the years. You are truly altruistic with the care and compassion you have always shown.

And thank you to Kent County Hospital, especially the NW ACE Ward (Acute Care for the Elderly). All of the staff, Nurses, CNA’s, and Doctors were so helpful in explaining every measure of comfort they were providing with empathy and caring. They did everything possible to make her comfortable, all while making our family feel cared for at the same time.

She had been a longtime member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Warwick.

Her Funeral Services are private and entrusted to THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in her memory to: The Salvation Army, 386 Broad Street, Providence RI 02907.
