Launa G. Whitman, 66, of West Warwick, passed away after a long illness on November 14, 2025 at Kent Hospital. She was surrounded by love and music in the company of family and close friends. Born in Denison, TX, she was a daughter of the late Robert A. Whitman and Nancy E. (Broome) Whitman.
Launa was a proud graduate of North Kingstown High School Class of 1977. She was employed for over 20 years as a special education paraprofessional with the South Kingstown School Department. She also worked briefly as a home health CNA. She was a nurturing, loving, and caring person and enjoyed raising her children and spending time with her family. She enjoyed walking the beach with her dog “Scarlet”, collecting sea glass and other treasures for making jewelry, and crafting, gardening and watching the birds.
She leaves her loving children: Jessica L. Hathaway and her husband Ryan of Richmond, Amanda B. Allen of West Warwick, and A.J. Allen of West Warwick. Cherished grandmother of Reese A. Hathaway of Tampa, FL, Logan M. McGlynn and Owen B. McGlynn and grand-kitty “Stache” of West Warwick. She was the sister of Brenda M. Whitman of New London, CT, Dean R. Whitman of Arapahoe, NC, and Kimberly R. Bragan of Saunderstown. She also leaves many loving nieces and nephews and cousins.
Calling Hours will be held Sunday, November 23, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. with a service to follow in THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown. Burial will be private.
