Heaven opened its gates for Kathryn Tucci Tata, 66, of Johnston, who passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2025, with her loving husband by her side. She was the devoted wife of Peter D Tata who she adored. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Ralph E. Tucci, Sr. and Margaret Mary (Kiernan) Tucci.
In addition to her husband of 25 years, Kathryn is survived by her loving brother, Ralph E. Tucci, Jr. and his wife Elaine of Seekonk, MA, her brother-in-law Paul Tata and his wife Karen of Thompson, CT, her sister-in-law Jeannine Anctil of Coventry, and several loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Kathryn was a graduate of Classical High School in Providence, Class of 1976, where she shared her “spirited” side as captain of the majorettes. Moving to the City that Never Sleeps, is no surprise to those who know Kath. She worked in the fashion and fur industry throughout the early 80’s. She later returned to Rhode Island to be with her family and served as an Administrative Assistant for various companies. Her true passion continued to blossom as she shared her voice and multiple skills with all who knew her. Kath loved to sing and worked to perfect her God-given talent with voice lessons at the RI Philharmonic. Many were on the receiving end of not only her melodious voice – family gatherings, St Pius Church Choir, karaoke at BIGGS, weddings, and funerals – but also her love of life itself. Kathryn was devoted to her faith and her church, her family and friends, and her pets at all cost. Kath loved to cook and host in their Johnston home. Many were recipients of the homemade meatballs and tomato sauce as well as the Tata Family relish, many times given as prized Christmas gifts. From her Mustang to her Harley, decorating for her favorite Halloween and Christmas Holidays, and planting her flowers and vegetable gardens, Kath lived life to its fullest. The world is a bit dimmer today.
Thank you to all who provided Kathryn with compassionate attention. The family appreciates the doctors, nurses, and staff in the RI Hospital ICU who cared for Kathryn and her family with respect, patience, empathy, and dignity.
Her Funeral will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025 at 8:00AM from THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00AM at St. Pius V Church, 240 Eaton Street, Providence. Interment will follow at St. Ann Cemetery, 73 Church Street, Cranston.
Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home on Sunday, April 27, 2025 from 4:00PM – 7:00PM
