Katherine Elizabeth Dietz, 42, of Warwick, passed away at home on October 3, 2024, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Kate died of cholangiocarcinoma, a rare and aggressive cancer.
Born on April 8, 1982, in Port Chester, NY, Kate was the daughter of Elizabeth (Whipple) Dietz and the late James Eugene Dietz. She was the single mother by choice of five-year-old twins, Amaranta and Anouk Dietz. Kate is survived by her mother, Elizabeth Dietz, her sister Grace Dietz of Warwick, and siblings, Margaret Dietz Doyle of New York, James Dietz of Texas, Mary Weeks of New York, Theresa Caroselli of New York, and Paul Dietz of Colorado.
Kate grew up in Texas and Rhode Island. She graduated from LaSalle Academy in Providence and received her Bachelor of Arts from the State University of New York at Purchase, where she majored in literature. Upon graduating in 2004, Kate moved to Block Island for many years, and later lived in Carbondale, Colorado, and Boston, Massachusetts.
Kate was a talented writer and was herself a living poem, living life’s journey in her unique and thoughtful way. She was an avid reader, and loved the theatre, ballet, Bruce Springsteen, swimming, and rivers.
Although Kate’s life was far too short, it was rich, impactful, and full of color. She will be missed by so many. Kate’s legacy and greatest love lives on in her beautiful daughters, Amaranta and Anouk.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 4:00PM-7:00PM at the Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Avenue Warwick, RI.
A Celebration of Kate’s Life will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 11:30AM at the Redwood Chapel at Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Boulevard Providence, RI.
