Joseph Amaral, Jr.

55, of West Greenwich passed away peacefully Sunday with his family by his side after a long battle with a debilitating brain illness. He was the beloved husband of Cherri-Lyn (Brown) Amaral for 23 years.

Born in Warwick to the late Joseph Amaral, Sr. and Joan L. (Carrington) Amaral. He was the grandson of the late Maria Estrella and Manuel Amaral, Sr.

Joe was employed by the Town of West Warwick holding many positions; the last being the maintenance man for the Police Department, where he took pride in his work and was well liked. He held that position until he retired in 2001. He was a volunteer and life member of Hianloland Fire Department. He also enjoyed hunting.

Joe was the loving father of Jonathan and Victoria. Caring brother of Dennis Amaral and his wife Carol and David Amaral, all of West Warwick, Robert Amaral of West Greenwich and Calissa Hamilton and her husband Michael, Colleen Mullins and Rick Mullins and his wife Deanna, all of Michigan.

His Funeral Service will be held Friday at 11:00 am in THE PRATA-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Thursday 4-7 pm. Burial will be private.
