Jonathan Brett Choiniere, 46, of Narragansett, died February 1, 2025 at South County Hospital. He was the loving companion of Jamie M. Pascale and best buddy of Tuna, their lab. Born in Warwick, he was son of the late Jon D. Choiniere and Patricia L. (Gardner) Choiniere.
Brett was a person of many talents and deep curiosity. He grew up on the water, developing a passion for sailing and boats. He was a top student at Exeter-West Greenwich High School and studied at the University of Rhode Island, but he found his creative voice and passion in building things with his hands. Bringing together his mechanical abilities and love of boats, Brett was a self-taught welder who worked in the marine industry for many years. He enjoyed sailing, riding his harley, spending time on Block Island, and tinkering with anything with a motor.
Brett was creative—besides fabrication, he loved music and played the bass, and taught himself Spanish.
But most will remember Brett for his big, infectious smile, the warmth and kindness he extended to everyone he met, and his gift of bringing people in and accepting them on their own terms.
Besides Jamie, Brett leaves his brother, Ryan S. Choiniere and his wife Erin of Exeter. He was the uncle of Tyler J. Choiniere and Blake W. Choiniere of Exeter.
