Janet B. Solomon

Janet B. Solomon, 90, of Saunderstown, died peacefully at home on May 11, 2025.  She was the wife of the late Robert E. Solomon (U.S. Navy Ret.)  Born in Stoughton, MA, she was a daughter of the late Andrew W. Barker and Helen M. (Denley) Barker. 

Janet worked at Newport Fabrics for many years.  She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed making wedding dresses for her children and prom dresses for her granddaughters. 

She enjoyed doing all things with her gifted hands and her most generous heart.   She loved life, spending time with her family, and was a member of the Red Hat Society and Order of the Eastern Star.

She leaves her loving children: Jennifer S. Brennan and her husband Charles (NKPD Ret.) of North Kingstown, Amy Hopkins of North Kingstown, Natalie Nolan, and her husband Daniel of South Kingstown, and daughter-in-law Gloria Gross of Jacksonville, FL.  She was the mother of the late Robert E. Solomon, Jr.  Cherished grandmother of Lindsay Solomon, Robert Solomon, Melissa Waterman, Rebecca Brennan, Andrea Mumford, Christina Brennan, Kaitlin Hairabedian, Derek Hopkins, Renee Hopkins, Emily Carney, James Nolan, Mark Nolan, and 14 great-grandchildren.  She was the sister of the late Natalie DeLuca, Miriam Cohenno, Polly Connell, Donald Barker, and Penelope Lindsay.  

Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday, May 22, 2025 from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M.  with a service to follow in THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown.  Burial in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery will be private.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to VNA of Care New England Hospice, 51 Health Lane, Warwick, RI 02886 will be appreciated.
