James “Jim” Alan Calechman, 71, of Smithfield, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. He was the husband of Dianne Labonte Calechman of West Greenwich. Born in Portsmouth, VA, he was the son of Janet Green Calechman Tettelbach and the late Edward Bernard Calechman.
Jim graduated from Amity Regional Senior High School in 1970 and moved to Rhode Island where he began to spend time with Steve Smith and the Nakeds. He toured with them for a little while before beginning his working career. Jim worked for Bank of America at the Call Center as a Customer Service Specialist in East Providence for twelve years before retiring in 2021. He also worked at the Barnsider Mile & A Quarter in downtown Providence.
Alongside his wife, Dianne, and mother, Janet, he is survived by his beloved son, James H. Calechman and future daughter-in-law, Alexis D’Aloia of New Jersey, his sisters, Julie D. Calechman and Rebecca J. Calechman Georgetti, and two nieces.
His Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at 5:00PM at THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 2:00PM-5:00PM.
