James Taylor, Jr. Obituary

James Edward “Joe” Taylor, Jr., 93, of Warwick, passed away on Monday, January 6, 2025. He was the loving husband of the late Patricia Eileen (McKeever) Taylor. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late James E. Taylor, Sr. and Mary M. (McVay) Taylor.

James proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War and worked for most of his life as a Cable Splicer for the New England Telephone Company now Verizon Communications. He graduated from Lockwood High School, class of 1950.  He was a founding member of the Apponaug Old Timer’s.  He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. James was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Apponaug and the Warwick Council of the Knights of Columbus. He also was a member of the American Legion Post #60.

He is survived by his beloved son, Joseph L. Taylor (Lynne A.) of Warwick, his brother, William H. Taylor (Gail) of Warwick, his sisters, Barbara Bergden of Warwick, Phyllis Pare of Coventry, Margaret Warhurst of Warwick, and Mary Masciarelli (Ray) of North Kingstown, his grandchildren, Jennifer T. Galagan (Patrick) and James E. Taylor, III (Katherine), and his great-grandchildren, Ella Galagan, Cillian Galagan, and Harrison Galagan.

Funeral Services are private and have been entrusted to THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick.
