Gilbert S. Gardiner, Jr., 84, of North Kingstown, died peacefully at home on May 16, 2025. Born in Cranston, he was a son of the late Gilbert S. Gardiner, Sr. and Frances J. (Ambrose) Gardiner.
Mr. Gardiner proudly served as a Firefighter with the North Kingstown Fire Department, retiring as Deputy Chief in 1989. He proudly served in the U.S. Army as a peacetime veteran. He was a Communicant of St. Bernard Church, member of the Slocum Grange, Wickford Civics Association, RI State Police Association, and served on the Washington County Fair Committee.
He leaves his loving sons, Matthew P. Gardiner of North Kingstown and Christopher G. Gardiner of Winter Garden, FL. He was the father-in-law of the late Liorah Brown Gardiner. He was the loving companion of Mary Sherman of North Kingstown. Cherished grandfather of Thomas Gardiner, Benjamin Almstrom, Perry Gardiner, Ariel Gardiner, and Viktor Gardiner. He was the brother of the late Peter E. Gardiner.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, May 19, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. in St. Bernard Church, 275 Tower Hill Road, North Kingstown. Burial will follow in Elm Grove Cemetery.
Calling Hours will be held Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. in THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown.
