George R. Ellis

George R. Ellis, 64, of Warwick, passed away on his birthday, Tuesday, January 20, 2026. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late George and Jane (Wimpenny) Ellis, Providence, RI. He was the loving husband of Caroline J O’Coin-Ellis.

George worked as a general contractor in the construction industry, managing Benny’s, Wolf Camera and other sales jobs.

Avidly, George enjoyed watching and attending games to his favorite teams Boston Bruins, New England Patriots, Providence Bruins.  He enjoyed watching NASCAR and attending Seekonk Speedway. George’s favorite meal was 3 all the way, fries and a coffee milk. He spent summers tending to the pool and working on his vehicles.

Besides his wife he is survived by his son David Ellis (Kaitlin), his grandchildren Paige, Stefan; daughter Elyssa Llewellyn (Chris), grandson Colby; son Robert (Katie), grandchildren  Bryce and Brooklyn; married formerly to Eneroliza Valerio, New Hampshire.

His adopted son Matthew Willson (Emma), stepdaughters Kaylee Cass and Courtney Gullage, step-grandsons Cayson and Beckham; married formerly to Claudia Willson, New Hampshire.

He was the stepdad to Lindsey Hopkins (Steve), Massachusetts; Laura (Hopkins) Hall (Jeffrey), grandchildren, Thomas, Sarah, Mary, William, Connecticut; John Hopkins (Erin) grandchildren, Kassidy and Kamille, Virginia; Rachel Hopkins (Ruben), Alaska; Alexander Hopkins (Kylie), Warwick, RI.

George is survived by his sister Dawn Giles, Warwick, RI; his nieces Hillary Garland (Michael), grandnieces Paige and Nora, Exeter, RI; Rebecca Hodgson (Scott), Warren, RI; and Emily Masse (Jason), Warwick, RI; and his cousin Mark Wimpenny, Fall River, Massachusetts.

At the family’s request, burial will be private. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick.
