George Stuart Daland, Jr., 90, of Warwick, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Dorothy Ann (Regester) Daland. Born in Westerly, he was the son of the late George S. Daland, Sr. and Ruth (Ellis) Daland-Hunt.
George was a dedicated Civil Servant who served over thirty-eight years in the Rhode Island Army National Guard as a member of the 861st Engineer Company and Bravo Battery 1-103 FA. He completed his service with the rank of Sargeant. George was a member of the National Guard Retirees Association, Warwick Christian Fellowship, and a former member of Quidnick Baptist Church. He was an Honorary Member of the Women’s Temperance Union. Always thinking of others, George enjoyed recycling and donating the proceeds to the church.
He is survived by his beloved children, Barbara M. Morin and her husband Paul of Cranston and Susan E. Gardiner of Warwick, his daughter-in-law Sheila Daland of Warwick, his sister, Thelma Payne of Westerly, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was the father of the late Geoffrey S. Daland and brother of the late Pauline Tillinghast and Grace Kneaskern.
A Celebration of George’s Life will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025 at 9:30AM at THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick. Interment with Military Honors will follow at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter.
Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday, October 16, 2025 from 4:00PM-7:00PM.
