Francis L. Giard

94, of Pawtucket, passed away Monday at Kent Hospital from Pancreatic Cancer. He was the husband of the late Mary (Quinn) Giard. Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Frank L. Giard (State Representative and Postmaster) and the late Anna B. (Keenan) Giard.

Mr. Giard was an Electrical Technician for American Totalisator Co. for over 30 years until his retirement. He was a graduate of St. Raphael Academy, class of 1935, and attended Providence College. He served in The United States Army during WW II. An avid golfer, Mr. Giard was a longtime member of Pawtucket Country Club.

He was the beloved father of Michael F. Giard of Irving, TX, Marcia M. Busher of Clermont, FL, Leslie A. Palombo of Warwick, RI, Paula D. Hazard of Huntington Beach, CA and the late Peter S. Giard, who passed away January 15, 2011. He was the caring brother-in-law of Frances Robberson and the loving grandfather of nine and great-grandfather of five. He was the brother of the late Milton Paul Giard and Dorothy Mae Sullivan.
