Dorothy Troppoli, formerly of Providence, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025 at her family home in Warwick. She was the beloved daughter of the late Frank and Loretta Troppoli.
Dorothy was employed by the City of Warwick. She taught at several grammar schools with most of her years as a First-Grade teacher at Scott School. After retirement from Scott School, she taught First-Grade at St. Ann’s in Providence. Dorothy was a devout and practicing Catholic her entire life. She was a longtime member of the RI Retired Teachers Association, the Epsilon Chapter of Delta Kappa Society International, and the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. Dorothy served on the RI State Level of the Delta Kappa Gamma Executive Board of both state and local chapters.
Dorothy will be remembered for her kind and generous heart. She had a way of connecting with people that reached out from her heart to theirs, endearing her to all those who came into her life, even if only briefly. Dorothy loved her family and friends deeply. As she faced her Parkinson’s, she did so with humor and humility, never failing to offer a smile.
She is survived by her loving sister, Elizabeth Kleinzheinz (Betty), nephews David and Paul Kleinzheinz, and nieces Karen Kleinzheinz Clark and Donna Kleinzheinz. She leaves her friend and caretaker Judith Caires. She also leaves many wonderful loving cousins and friends that were like siblings.
She was the aunt of the late Steven Kleinzheinz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at 11:00AM at St. Kevin Church, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick. Interment at St. Ann Cemetery in Cranston will be private. Per her request, visiting hours are omitted.
In lieu of flowers, extending forgiveness, practicing empathy, and showing kindness in her memory would be appreciated.
