Donna M. Mourachian-Sweeney

Donna M. (Jutras) Mourachian-Sweeney, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2026. 

Donna was a lifelong resident of Cranston, RI, until she moved in with her son, Mark, and his family in Cranberry, PA, during 2020. This was where she passed away peacefully at home in her sleep.

She was born in Providence, RI, to the late Alvin and Grace (Sepe) Jutras. She was the sister of Stephen Jutras, Deborah Daniel, Jennifer Chace, and Jeffrey Jutras (and wife Donna Obuch).

She was predeceased by her brother Robert Jutras.

She was the wife of the late Haroutoun “Harry” Mourachian from 1968 until his untimely passing in 1994. She leaves behind three sons: Matthew (and his wife Julie), Michael, and Mark (and his wife Anna), as well as four nieces, one nephew, two great nieces, three great nephews, eleven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Early on in her marriage Donna decided to forgo a career and stay at home to raise her sons. One particular benefit to this was the cookie factory that her kitchen became at Christmastime. All year long she would collect stacks of shoe boxes which she filled with all homemade cookies and fruitcake and wrapped in tissue paper and ribbon. Friends, relatives, neighbors, teachers, the crossing guard, and the mail carrier were all lucky recipients. It truly made her happy to show her love and gratitude through baking. It wasn’t just desserts; her lasagna was unrivaled.

Once her boys were grown, she returned to the workforce as a bookkeeper, working for Fellowship Health Resources and Narragansett Bay Commission. 

Later in retirement she met and married her second husband, Patrick Sweeney, in 2007 until his passing in 2018.

Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 10:00AM at St. Gregory the Great Church, 360 Cowesett Road, Warwick, RI 02886. Interment will follow at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.

Visitation will be held in the church prior to the Mass from 9:00AM-9:45AM.
