Clarence J. Bridges, 94, of North Kingstown, went to be with Lord on August 17, 2024 at Kent Hospital. He was the loving husband of Bellanne (Gross) Bridges for 71 years. Born in Penobscot, ME, he was a son of the late Earl A. Bridges and Beulah M. (Jones) Bridges.
Clarences service and career spanned more than four decades. For 21 years, Clarence proudly served in the U.S. Navy Seabees to the rank of SWCS. His service included the Vietnam War. Clarence was also a structural steel worker at Electric Boat for 20 years until his retirement.
Clarence deeply loved the Lord Jesus Christ and served Him faithfully until the end. He served as a Deacon at Exeter Chapel, where he was a founding member. Clarence faithfully served as a head usher welcoming all who entered a service for over thirty years.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his loving children, Deborah L. Farren & her husband George of New London, CT, James E. Bridges & his wife Joyce of Exeter, Tracy R. Bridges & his wife Carrie of Coventry, and David C. Bridges & his wife Julia of Killingly, CT. Cherished grandfather of 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Wayne S. Bridges.
His Funeral Service will be held Thursday, August 22, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Exeter Chapel, 765 Ten Rod Road, Exeter. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Contact Exeter Chapel for access to livestream.
Calling Hours will be held Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. in THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown.
