Cheryl Laura Idone

Cheryl Laura Idone, 74, of Warwick, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 12, 2025, after a brief but intense illness. Born in Warwick, she was the daughter of the late Frank M. Idone and the late Myrtle R. (Gustafson) Idone.

Cheryl graduated from Pilgrim High School in 1968 and continued her studies at RISD and CCRI. She started working for New England Telephone Company in 1969 where she made many lifelong friends. After her career at the Telephone Company, she worked with her mother in their family tax business, “No Myth”. Cheryl was an avid golfer and a member of the Ocean State Women’s Golf Association, TRIGGS Ladies Inner Club and many weekly golf leagues. Cheryl was a talented artist and a strong supporter of numerous pet charities. She loved many dogs and cats throughout her life, especially her rescue boxers Dempsey and Gus.

Cheryl brightened any room the moment she entered it, and her laugh was memorable and infectious. She was a fiercely loyal and devoted friend, always willing to help anyone in need. She carried her mother’s legacy of strength and perseverance through her actions and contributions. Anyone who was lucky enough to spend time with Cheryl knew what a strong, unique, and talented person she was.

She is survived by her children, Michael W. Galligan (Marnie) of Cranston and W. Travis McGowan of Warwick. She also leaves behind one grandchild, Macin Galligan.

Her Funeral will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 8:30AM from THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00AM at St. Kevin Church, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick. Interment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery in Warwick.

Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 3:00PM-7:00PM.
