Barner Diaz, 65, of West Kingston, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at
home surrounded by his loving Perspectives family. He battled cancer for the past few years with
strength and resilience.
Born in Queens, New York, Barner was the beloved son of Carmen Cintron and stepson of
Gilbert Quinones. He was predeceased by his father, Roberto Diaz. He also leaves behind several
siblings.
Barner was a Deaf man with a huge heart and carried deep pride as someone who built a
meaningful life through hard work, loyalty, and love. He found joy in routine and things such as
a ferry ride to Block Island, exploring historical places like Battleship Cove and enjoying the
sun.
Barner’s love and respect of anything military, historical or America showed up in the way he
collected things - Americana keepsakes, magnets, and photos. He also loved giving gifts and
always expected a gift in return.
Barner held a job at the Newport Navy base doing yard work and ran his own landscaping
business. He was all about earning his own money and nothing made him happier than a Subway
sandwich and a cold soda, never failing to offer to buy someone a soda.
Barner has been a part of the Perspectives family for over 23 years where he made deep
connections and will be greatly missed, leaving behind many friends, coworkers, and chosen
family who carry pieces of his story.
Everyone is kindly invited to a Memorial Service from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Tuesday
August 12th, at The Cranston-Murphy Funeral Home of Wickford, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North
Kingstown, RI 02852.
