Barbara Ann (Long) Nelson

Barbara (Bobbie) Ann (Long) Nelson, 87, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 16, 2026. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Jerome E. and Gertrude (Rook) Long.

Barbara worked in the retail industry as well as at Saint Pius School in Westerly, RI for many years before her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends having recently spent 3 months visiting with family on the West Coast.

She is predeceased by her son Douglas Vincent Nelson and her daughter Nicki Angela Nelson.

She will be sadly missed by her children, William Michael Nelson of San Rafael, CA, Wendy Marie Nelson (Liang Ly) of Elk Grove CA and Lori Ann Nelson of Providence, RI. She also leaves her brother William Long (Tieli Long) of Novato, CA and was the loving grandmother of Michael George Nelson, Jessica Lee Nelson, Melanie Marie Nelson and several great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 10:00 AM at THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick followed by burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
