Audrey A. Wilkinson, 92, of Jamestown, RI, and Sarasota, FL, passed away peacefully at home on December 4, 2024. She is now joyfully reunited with her beloved husband, the late Robert E. Wilkinson, Jr..

Audrey’s warmth, kindness, and loving spirit live on through her children: R. Steven Wilkinson and his wife, Laura, of Warwick, and Amey Larrat and her husband, Paul, of Saunderstown. She was a devoted grandmother to Meghan Lowe (Matthew), Abigail Wilkinson, Eric Larrat (Rachel), and Elizabeth Wilkinson, as well as a proud great-grandmother to Adelyn Lowe. Audrey was the daughter of the late Herbert E. Joslin and Evelina M. (Bloomquist) Joslin and the sister of the late Herbert Joslin and Shirley Healey. She will also be deeply missed by her loyal Dachshund, Molly, and many treasured friends.

Born in Providence on November 17, 1932, Audrey graduated from the University of Rhode Island, where she met her lifelong partner, Bob. A proud member of Delta Zeta sorority, Audrey embraced education and pursued a fulfilling career as a first-grade teacher at Potowomut Elementary School in Warwick, RI. Her love for teaching was rivaled only by her passion for exploring the world, with cherished memories of family trips to Bermuda, Antigua and Scotland.

Audrey found joy in the natural beauty of Rhode Island’s coastline. An avid sailor, she was a longtime member of the East Greenwich Yacht Club and the Sarasota Sailing Squadron. Summers were spent aboard “Black Watch,” the sailboat she and Bob lovingly restored, a tribute to their Scottish heritage.

Away from the sea, Audrey excelled on the golf course as an active member of Potowomut Golf Club and Palm- Aire Country Club in Sarasota. She cherished her weekly rounds with dear friends, no matter where life took her.  Her sense of humor and quick wit remained vibrant, bringing smiles and laughter to all those who cared for her.

Audrey’s love for nature extended beyond sailing and golf. She was an enthusiastic supporter of The Nature Conservancy and the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens. A faithful Episcopalian, she was a communicant of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Jamestown and was married at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Wickford.

A Requiem Eucharist will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on December 28, 2024 at 10am, followed by a burial at Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Audrey’s memory to the Audubon Society of Rhode Island (12 Sanderson Road, Smithfield, RI 02917) or The Nature Conservancy (4245 N. Fairfax Drive, Suite 100, Arlington, VA 22203).
