Arthur J. Spencer, age 93 of Warwick, passed away on Wednesday, December 17th. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy V. (McCoy) Spencer, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage. Born in Providence to Harold A. and Margaret M. Spencer,Arthur graduated from Hope High in 1950. He served four years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict, including a tour on the icebreaker USS Edisto.
After his military service, he earned a degree in accounting and finance from Bryant College. Arthur held accounting positions at Sealol Corp. and U.S. Rubber, where he met his future wife. He later joined Tupperware Mfg. Co. as director of accounting, and eventually moved to Reed and Barton Silversmiths in Taunton, retiring as corporate assistant treasurer after 17 years. He was a member of Big Brothers of RI and the National Association of Accountants, and enjoyed golf with his son, duckpin bowling, and attending live music festivals with his wife. Traditional jazz was their favorite, and they attended yearly festivals in Connecticut, California, and Florida.
Arthur is survived by his son Stephen, daughter Kathleen, her husband Robert, and cherished granddaughter Natalie Kay. He leaves a brother Robert, his wife Shirley, niece Karen Salyers, her husband Bill, and several grand nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025, at 11:00AM at THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 10:00AM-11:00AM
He will be remembered for his dedication to family, career, and love of animals, music and community.
