Cynthia (Yeager) Corbridge, 75, of North Kingstown, Rhode Island died peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on November 14, 2023.

She was born on March 12,1948 in Chelsea, Massachusetts and grew up in North Kingstown. She attended the University of Rhode Island, majoring in Education and later received her Master of Social Work from Boston University.

She met her beloved husband, Peter B. Corbridge while at URI. They married in 1969 and moved back to North Kingstown in 1974 where they have lived in their home for the past 49 years. She will be greatly missed by her neighborhood family.

Cynthia’s work has always been in the service of others. After a short time teaching elementary school, she worked at North Kingstown Health Center where she became the Executive Director. Through her exceptional leadership, the center provided much needed healthcare for low-income individuals. Cynthia joined the Rhode Island Department of Education in 1989 and spent 20 years working there on health education standards and assessment. Her voice and ideas shaped this work at the state, regional, and national levels.

Throughout her life, Cynthia volunteered in many capacities to help address the challenges facing our communities. She was a longtime member, former president, and first woman member of the Jamestown Rotary Club. She volunteered as a member of Friends of the Library Executive Board and in other capacities at the North Kingstown Free Library. Cynthia was a URI Master Gardener and a member of the Plum Beach Garden Club. Working with her North Kingstown neighbors, she was proud of the public gardens maintained by the Plum Beach Garden Club. Cynthia also volunteered with the Smith Castle Demonstration Garden.

Cynthia was passionate about art and museums. She loved to travel, especially to Ireland, with her husband Peter. Wherever they traveled they were immersed in the community and made deep connections. Cynthia was loyal and committed to her family and friends. She was kind, generous, loving and funny.

She is survived by her adoring husband, Peter Corbridge; siblings, Mary Kathryn Sweetland and her husband Paul Jr. of Searsmont, Maine; Wesley R. Yeager of Flushing, New York; Kenneth C. Yeager of Swansea, Massachusetts; and sister-in-law Kathleen Yeager of North Kingstown, Rhode Island. She leaves her cherished nieces and nephews, Heather DeGregorio and her husband Jeff, Graham Yeager and his wife Rhea, Paul Sweetland III and his wife Cherish, James Sweetland, Mary Margaret Sweetland, Frances Yeager, Andrew Yeager and James Yeager; along with many grandnieces, grandnephews and countless friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Donald and Dorothy Barbara Yeager.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, November 19th at 2:00 PM, followed by a Memorial Service at 3:30 PM at The Cranston-Murphy Funeral Home of Wickford, 140 West Main Street, North Kingstown, RI. Please omit flowers. Donations in Cynthia’s memory may be made to the Plum Beach Garden Club.
