Mariette B. Goddard, 70, of West Warwick, died peacefully on December 29, 2022, surrounded by her family. Born in Warwick, she was a daughter of the late Wilfrid J. Ethier and Lucille M. (Joyal) Ethier.

Ms. Goddard worked as a radiologic technologist for many years, beginning her career at Kent Hospital in the 1970s and retiring from South County Hospital. She served as a clinical instructor for the radiography program at CCRI. She was also very creative and held a degree in graphic design.

She leaves her loving daughter, Dr. Lauren A. Goddard and son-in-law Daniel Schwartz of North Kingstown. She was the cherished grandmother ("Mémère") of Naomi Schwartz and Ruby Schwartz.  She was the sister of Armand Ethier and his wife Judy of Coventry, Murielle Adadevoh of Cranston, and Richard Ethier and his wife Kathy of Warwick.

Mariette was beloved by many, known for her humor, kindness, calmness, adventurous spirit, and an infectious laugh. In addition to her artistic talents, she had the ability to fix just about anything, was a superb athlete, and a green thumb. She completed the Master Gardener Program at URI. As a Navy wife for 16 years, she was well traveled, and especially enjoyed visits to her family's country of origin in Quebec. She also loved her cats, antiques, the theatre, Rhode Island cuisine, and going to the beach armed with a clam rake.

Her Funeral Service will be held Friday, January 6, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. in the United Methodist Church in East Greenwich at 1558 South County Trail.  Burial will follow at Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery. A reception will be held afterwards. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, ASPCA, and Women and Infants chemotherapy infusion unit (earmarked for the provision of comfortable chairs for patients undergoing treatment) are appreciated.

Arrangements have been entrusted to THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD
