Evald "Al" Justas Albrektson, 102, of West Warwick, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at Kent Hospital. Born in Orby, Sweden, he was the son of the late Henning and Alma Albrektson. was the beloved husband of the late Evelyn A. (Hooper) Albrektson.

Al was a veteran of WWII having served with the US Army in the South Pacific, Saipan and the Philippines. Prior to his service in the military, he studied at RI School of Design, majoring in Graphic Art which became his career in the advertising business, the last 17 years of which he operated Albrektson Studio servicing art and design needs to the advertising industry.

He was well known as an accomplished watercolor painter, a field in which he gathered numerous awards and other recognitions. After his retirement from the advertising business, he taught watercolor painting for many years.

Al was a member of many art organizations including The Providence Art Club, Rockport Art Association, Northshore Art Association, RI Watercolor Society, New England Watercolor Society, Art League of RI, South County Art Association and Wickford Art Association.

He is survived by his son David (Jeanne) of Jamestown and his daughter Jan Messier of Providence.

He was the brother of the late Dagney Swenson, the late Alice McCarroll and the late Nan White.

In accordance with Al’s wishes, there will not be a formal service and the Funeral Services will be private. Funeral arrangements have been made by THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests you do something nice for someone, or call an old friend.
