Frances (McCoart) Ainsworth-DeFrance, 86, of Warwick and a summer resident of Roy Carpenters Beach for over 60 years, passed away Tuesday at Sunny View Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Alexander DeFrance and the late William E. Ainsworth. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late J. Raymond and Frances (Darling) McCoart.

Mrs. DeFrance attended Hope High School and Bryant Stratton College. She was the first female President of the Hillsgrove School PTA, a former member of the Women's Democratic League, serving as Hospitality Chairman from 1957-58, secretary of Roy Carpenters Beach Volunteer Fire Department in 1963, an active volunteer for the R.I. Blood Center for 25 years, a driver for Meals on Wheels, an active volunteer on the Mayors Advisory Commission on Disabilities since 1980, a former member of the Board of Trustees of the Warwick Public Library and Chairman of Neighbors Helping Neighbors.

She was the beloved mother of William M. Ainsworth (Lt. WFD Ret.) of West Warwick, Raymond S. Ainsworth of Rockville, Paul B. Ainsworth (Det. WPD Ret.) of South Kingstown, Arthur A. DeFrance of Warwick and Peter A. DeFrance of Hopkinton, RI. Loving grandmother of seven and great-grandmother of three.

Her funeral will be held Saturday at 8:45 am from THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 596 Jefferson Boulevard, Warwick. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday 3-7 pm.
