Richard S. Shea

Richard S. Shea, 83, formerly of North Williams Street, Johnston passed away Thursday at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. He was the beloved husband of Filomena J. (Macaruso) Shea for 59 years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Philip and Ada (Langlois) Shea.

Mr. Shea was a Plumber with Local 51 of the Plumbers Union until his retirement in 1998. A WW II Veteran, he served in The United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Bairoko. He was a member of Holy Cross Church in Providence. Richard enjoyed motorcycling with his wife.

Besides his wife, he is also survived by his daughter Roberta A. Slattery and her husband Peter of Johnston and two granddaughters Kailynn and Kendra Slattery. He was the brother of the late Barbara Lombardi.

His funeral will be held Tuesday at 8:45 am from THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Holy Cross Church, 645 Hartford Avenue, Providence. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in R.I. Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Monday 3-6 pm.
