Nancy J. (Shaw) Wyrostek, 67, formerly of Cranston and Warwick, passed away September 3, 2011 at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Clinton and Gladys (Forsberg) Shaw.

Ms. Wyrostek was a clerical worker for Blue Cross of R.I. until her disability 15 years ago. She was a graduate of Cranston High School East, class of 1961. Her passion for life was her grandson and knitting, creating beautiful quilts and clothing. She made scarves and mittens for the homeless shelter at Christmas time, delivering them personally. She loved writing stories, fishing and laughing with friends.

She was the beloved mother of Christian J. Wyrostek of Oregon, Paul P. Wyrostek of Coventry and the late William Wyrostek. Loving grandmother of Brandon Wyrostek. Caring sister of Clinton Shaw of Warwick, Stephen Shaw of Oregon and the late Gloria Kenney.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 pm in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Greenwood, Warwick (Exit 12A off I-95). Burial will be private.

Gifts in her memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 would be appreciated.
