Ruth A. (Rice) Boyer, 93, of North Kingstown, died peacefully at South County Nursing & Rehabilitation on Friday, September 2, 2011. Born in Warwick, she was a daughter of the late Oliver Rice and Lula M. (Tibbits) Rice. She was the wife of the late Edwin O. Boyer and companion of the late Sam King.

Mrs. Boyer was a Licensed Practical Nurse for the Ladd School for many years until her retirement. She was a member of the North Kingstown United Methodist Church, the Wickford Bowling League, and was a Gold Star Mother. She enjoyed traveling, camping, and playing bingo.

She leaves her seven children: Brian D. Boyer and his wife Doreen of Cranston, Jerry M. Boyer and his wife Carmen of Richmond, Christopher D. Boyer of Carolina, Jeffrey M. Boyer and his wife Amy of North Kingstown, Maureen R. Smith and her husband James of Richmond, Donna C. Taylor and her husband George of West Warwick, Marsha I. Clark and her husband Ronnie of Ridgeway, SC. She was the mother of the late Bruce E. Boyer. Cherished grandmother of 23 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at 11:00 am in Elm Grove Cemetery, Tower Hill Road, Wickford. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. Arrangements have been entrusted to THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to the North Kingstown Animal Shelter, 395 Hamilton Allenton Road, North Kingstown, RI 02852 will be appreciated.
