Florence (Slayton) Haywood, 84, of Warwick, died peacefully on Sunday, August 7, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Home of East Greenwich. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late William A. Slayton and Louise E. (Kingsley) Slayton. She was the wife of the late William F. Haywood.

Mrs. Haywood was a Homemaker and a foster parent for many years. She was a communicant of the Church of the Transfiguration, member of the Pilgrim Senior Center, and a Camp Fire Girls Leader.

She leaves her two daughters: Linda L. Donahue of Coventry and Susan G. Adams and her husband Robert of Swansea, MA. Cherished grandmother of 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of Philip P. Mongeau of North Kingstown and the late William Mongeau and George Mongeau. She was a life long friend of Helen Adams-Bates, also of Warwick.

Her Requiem Eucharist will be held on Friday, August 12, 2011 at 11:30 am in the Church of the Transfiguration, 1665 Broad Street, Edgewood, Cranston. Burial will be private. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Greenwood, Warwick (Exit 12A off I95).

In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 will be appreciated.
