Concetta F. (Papa) Palazzo

Concetta F. (Papa) Palazzo, 89, of Warwick, a former state worker, died Thursday at Kent Hospital. She was the wife of Anthony J. Palazzo.

She had been an administrative assistant for the state Department of Vocational Rehabilitation for many years before retiring in 1986.

Born in Warwick, a daughter of the late Raffaele and Brigida (Palladino) Papa, she was one of 11 siblings of a close-knit family. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren.

She loved classical and other types of music, theater, and was an avid reader. She battled numerous health obstacles throughout her life and was a longtime member of InSight.

Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Stephen Palazzo (wife Sally), and a daughter, Susan M. Robin (husband Wayne), both of Rehoboth; two brothers, Anthony Papa of Warwick and Roland Papa of West Warwick; and four granddaughters, Lauren and Leah Palazzo, and Ashley and Chelsea Robin. She was predeceased by brothers Thomas, Louis, Joseph and James Papa, and sisters Annie Vitullo, Mary Xavier, Ida Osterman and Anna D'Ambrosca.

The funeral will be held Monday at 8:45 a.m. from Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Francis Church, Warwick. Burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Calling hours will be Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m.
