Dennis J. Sherman, 54, of North Kingstown, died peacefully at home on Sunday, July 24, 2011. Born in South Kingstown, he was a son of the late Bernard W. Sherman and Carolyn (Northup) Sherman. He was the step-son of Claire Sherman of Richmond.

Mr. Sherman was a Groundskeeper for several golf courses for many years and was an avid fisherman.

Besides his step-mother, he leaves his daughter, Melissa Burns of Hopkinton, a step-daughter, Nicole Poulin of Richmond, a granddaughter, Iyla Burns of Hopkinton, two brothers, Gregory W. Sherman of Narragansett, Edward Sherman of East Greenwich, four sisters, Bernadette M. Sherman of North Kingstown, Catherine A. Cardona of Rdjuntas, Puerto Rico, Susan J. Martin of Cranston, Michelle Taylor of South Kingstown, two step-brothers, Anthony F. Lopes of West Warwick, Ronald Lopes of Providence, and a step-sister, Constance M. Monteiro of East Providence. He was the twin-brother of the late Deborah L. Potter. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 10:00 am in St. Bernard Church, 275 Tower Hill Road, Wickford. Burial will follow in New Fernwood Cemetery, Kingston. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
