Paul E. Sherman,
84, of Stony Lane, North Kingstown, died peacefully on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at South County Hospital.
A life-long resident of North Kingstown, he was a son of the late George H. Sherman and Hazel L. (Seavey) Sherman. He was the loving husband of Claire (Rogers) Sherman.
Mr. Sherman was in the building business for thirty five years and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War in the U.S. sector of Germany during the Cold War. . He was a communicant of St. Bernard Church. Paul was a devoted husband, father, and friend who was always kind and giving to others. He has left us all with many loving memories.
Besides his wife, he leaves his four children: Katherine E. Sherman and her partner Jennifer Ramin of Tucson, AZ, Cheryl A. Edwards and her husband Lance of Exeter, Gail L. Cunningham and her husband David of Exeter, and Steven O. Sherman, Sr. and his wife Ella of North Kingstown. He was the loving grandfather of Carrie Pennington, Gregory Edwards, Jeremy Edwards, Christopher Cunningham, Amy Gail Cunningham, Steven O. Sherman, Jr., Philip A. Sherman, Amiee Lynn Sherman, and great-grandfather of Mike Jackson and J. Dalton Pennington. He was the great-grandfather of the late Allison P. Pennington and brother of the late Newton S. Sherman, Sr., Dora A. Tucker, and Warren G. Sherman. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at 10:00 am in St. Bernard Church, 275 Tower Hill Road, Wickford. Burial will follow in Elm Grove Cemetery, North Kingstown. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Sunday, June 26th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory to St. Bernard Church, 415 Tower Hill Road, North Kingstown, RI 02852 will be appreciated.
