Wayne E. Matteson, 68, of North Kingstown, died peacefully on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at South Kingstown Nursing & Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his loving family. A life-long resident of North Kingstown, he was a son of the late Lawrence M. Matteson and Bernice V. (Eldred) Matteson.


Mr. Matteson was the proprietor of Wayne's Farm Fresh Vegetables on West Allenton Road for many years and was employed by Tuckahoe Turf Farm. He was a talented musician who enjoyed singing and playing the guitar. He was a volunteer for the Slocum Fire Department.


He leaves his three children: Rhonda L. Shemanski and her husband Scott of Warwick, Wanda D. Carpenter of North Kingstown, and Wayne F. Matteson of North Kingstown. He was the grandfather of Ryan and Stephanie and brother of the late Lawrence M. Matteson and Frederick Matteson.


A private graveside service was held in Elm Grove Cemetery, Wickford. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. Arrangements have been entrusted to THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD.
