Douglas S. Roth, 45, of Country Hill Lane, North Kingstown, passed away peacefully on Saturday after a battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Donna (Chopoorian) Roth for 18 years and the father of Brian and Jennifer.

Born in Hammond, Indiana and raised in Overland Park, Kansas, Douglas was the son of Patricia R. Roth and the late John F. Roth. He was one of six children, forever remembered by his brothers Timothy, Christopher and John and his sisters, Patricia and Suzanne.

He graduated from the University of Kansas with a B.S. in Journalism in 1989. Douglas touched the lives of many people with his sense of humor, generosity and genuine love of life. He was active in many sports in the community and served on the North Kingstown School Committee for four years. He was most recently employed as a Senior Director of Marketing at SAP Global.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph's Church, 854 Providence Street, West Warwick at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, June 15, 2011. Later that day, to continue the celebration of his life, family and friends are invited to a reception at the Quonset O Club, 200 Lt. James Brown Road, North Kingstown from 4-7 PM. Cremation will take place earlier at The Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home in Warwick. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In addition, a memorial service will be held in Kansas at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Douglas S. Roth Memorial Scholarship Fund, which will benefit a North Kingstown High School student. Donations may be sent to Douglas S. Roth Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Citizens Bank, 1300 Ten Rod Rd., North Kingstown, RI 02852.
